Growing up in a musical family, she began writing folk music as a child before falling in love with and immersing herself in the world of jazz, training as a vocalist and performing in big bands and combos for over a decade. While she grew as a jazz singer, in the background, she still loved writing folk music and wanted to find a way to combine her two musical halves. Then came the banjo.
